⚖ Weigh Cattle Accurately: Always use actual live weight for dosing. Underdosing can lead to resistance; overdosing wastes product. A scale or weight tape gives the best results. Round up to the nearest 50 lbs if uncertain.
📅 Withdrawal Period Reminder: Safeguard (fenbendazole) has an 8-day withdrawal period for beef cattle and 13 days for dairy cattle (milk). Always record treatment dates. Do not process or sell animals before the withdrawal period ends.

Safe-Guard is a cattle dewormer that uses the active ingredient fenbendazole. It goes directly to the belly where the worms live and feed. The product comes in various forms, as crumbles, paste and 10% liquid solution, that you give by mouth as a drench

For cattle the advised dose is 2.3 mg each pound of body weight, so 5 mg each kilo. The 10% liquid solution requires 2.3 mL for every 100 pounds of weight. It delivers around 90% reduction of worms and can add avergae 28.9 pounds of weight each head.

Using Safe-Guard to Deworm Cattle

The Safe-Guard Paste comes in a 290 g syringe, that suffices for up to 12,000 pounds of cattle. One syringe gives paste for deworming four 1,000 pound cattle. Every full dose from the gun delivers about 5 g of fenbendazole.

For 500 pound animals you use 11.5 g, or 5 g each 220 pounds of weight.

For the crumble form mix 1 pound of Safe-Guard 0.5% Crumbles with grain and forage for 1,000 pounds of body weight. Like this you reach 2.27 mg fenbendazole each pound. While one-day therapy give 1 pound for 250 pounds of weight, so 1,000 pound cow receives 4 pounds.

Mix only for one day and ensure plenty of pure, fresh water.

Safe-Guard helps against lungworms, stomach worms and intestinal worms in cattle and goats. It attacks particular parasites, for instance adult lungworms, brown stomach worms and barberpole worms. The dose ranges according to the intended parasites.

The 10% solution works for breeding animals, pregnant cows, dairy cattle and weak animals. You do not use the 10 mg/kg dose for dairy cattle. For pre-ruminating calves there is no set wait period.

After Safe-Guard Suspension do not butcher cattle during 8 days. Preserve the product in or under 77°F and protect against freezing.

Like this more easily give an extra dose between therapies, what stops the parasite life cycle and help to keep the cattle free of worms during long time.
