Lotus is a unique flower that is grown above the water and soil and it definitely looks great. The lotus flower looks like they are floating above the water and that is definitely the perfect sight for the eyes.
However, growing them from the seeds is something that might look complicated for the most as you cannot simply plant the seed in the water. You will need to follow the steps properly to grow lotus from the seed and need to take care of everything with precision to not have any mistakes while growing the lotus.

Growing Lotus From Seeds
1) Get the right seeds
Lotus seeds are usually small and are the size of an olive at most. Their coating is pretty hard as well and you cannot break them easily. However, the best part is that you can find the viable seeds from any florists or from the bottom of the pond where lotus is planted and that will help you out good.
You just have to ensure that you are finding a seed that is good for germination and that will help you out perfectly to get through the first step of planting lotus from the seed.
2) Nick the Skin
Once you have ensured that you got your hands on the right seed, the next step is to ensure that you are nicking the skin off good. The skin on these seeds is pretty hard to crack and you might not have seen any seed with skin harder than the lotus seed.
So, if you want to get that right, you will need to make sure that you are rubbing it over the medium grit sand paper or some other rough surface to file through it. You will have to make sure that you are just taking off the first layer of the skin on your lotus seed as that will be the only thing you will need. You have to make sure that you are not hurting any of those inner skins that might be there on the seed to not affect the seed.
3) Temperature
After you have nicked the upper skin of the seed to help with the germination process. You will have to ensure that you are placing the seed inside the water. The water needs to have 70 degrees F or more temperature at all times.
Lotus need lot of sunlight and moisture so it would be better if you can keep the seed in a jar filled with water and keep that jar in a temperature-controlled environment or simply in direct sunlight. That will help you to get the seed grow into a seedling.
4) Wait patiently
It can take days and sometimes weeks for the seed to grow properly. That is why, you need to ensure that you are waiting patiently and not giving up on the seed. You will need to wait all that time patiently to ensure that you are not wasting a good seed. A month should be enough time before you can give up on a seed and that will help you to grow the seedling into a plant.
5) Change the water
The water can have all sorts of bacterial growth in it as well so you will need to ensure that you are taking care of that. No matter what temperature you are keeping the water at, you will need to replace the water daily to ensure that there is no bacteria growing in the water that can hurt the seed and affect germination process.
You will have to keep changing the water. The seed will begin to sprout and will bloat as well. It will start growing towards light and once the seed is ready to unfurl the first leaf, it will reach the surface and have first leave unfurled.
After that, the flower will be growing out and you can put it in a tub of water or some other aquatic soil. Just make sure to keep the same water level even if you are changing the water or the space to ensure that it can keep growing perfectly.
