💡 Overage matters: Always add 5–15% extra material to your calculation. Uneven ground, absorption, and settling mean you almost always use more than the math suggests. A 10% buffer is the industry norm for most fertilizer and amendment projects.
💡 Wet vs. dry weight: Compost and manure can weigh 20–35% more when wet compared to dry. If your material has been sitting outside or was recently watered, plan for the heavier end of the weight range when calculating load capacity for transport.

One cubic yard of that 10-10-10 material usually covers about 324 square feet when one spreads it one inch thick. Even so, if one uses the more usual depth of 3 inches, then the covering limits to only 108 square feet. Whether that is not big difference?
